All Haverford students, faculty, and staff have access to Zoom for hosting video conferences or other online meetings. All Zoom meetings can be joined by either call-in or via the Zoom client on a variety of devices.
Access and Install Zoom
A Haverford user can access Zoom either by 1) visiting haverford.zoom.us in a web browser or 2) with the Zoom app on their computer. Follow the instructions below for each type of log-in.
1) Login to https://haverford.zoom.us to see these options:
- Join – Connect to a meeting in progress.
- You will need a ‘Meeting ID’ or ‘Personal Link Name’ to join another meeting.
- Host – Host a new meeting immediately
- You can host a new meeting starting immediately and invite participants once the meeting is started. Participants can be invited via email or a copied URL sent separately.
- NOTE: You will need to first be logged in to Zoom via the ‘Sign In’ button outlined below in order to join your meeting as a ‘Host’ and share your screen with participants.
- Sign In – Schedule a new meeting and configure your account
- After logging in with your Haverford credentials you will have access to various settings including ‘Meetings’ where Zoom meetings can be scheduled in advance, via email or URL.
2) Use Zoom Client for Meetings on your computer:
-
For Haverford-issued laptops the Zoom app should be already on your computer, but please let us know if you are having trouble finding it. To download, if needed, Zoom Client for Meetings is also available via this link: https://zoom.us/download
- Do not use the username and password fields when the Zoom app loads up. When prompted to log in, choose the SSO option in the bottom-left below the username and password fields. It will pop up with a blank row to fill out and the words ".zoom.us" In the blank row, type in the word "haverford" (without quotes). This should then prompt you to a web browser window where you can fill out your Haverford credentials. On version 5.14 and newer, you have to click "Sign In" and then click the SSO button.
Calling in to a Zoom Meeting
Participants can call in to a Zoom meeting with any of the numbers below and the unique Meeting ID generated for each meeting. These directions are also presented to participants in the Zoom invitation and at the time of the call if the participant chooses the “Join by Phone” option.

Practicing with Zoom
Before you use Zoom, take some time to practice.
Test your internet connection by joining a test meeting. https://zoom.us/test
Because Zoom runs on multiple devices – including mobile phones – one great way to practice is to launch a Zoom meeting on your computer and then sign into that meeting on your iPhone, iPad, or Android Device. Leave the audio off in order to avoid getting feedback. Zoom’s Host and Co-Host Controls in a Meeting guide reviews most of the functions you will need to know.
You may also want to practice with colleagues by scheduling a low-stakes, introductory meeting in Zoom with the sole purpose of having colleagues log in and troubleshoot the four most common technical issues: participants unable to see or be seen, participants unable to hear, participants who cannot be heard, or participants’ microphones picking up background noise or causing an echo. These guides should help:
