Setting Pronouns in Moodle

Moodle has a profile for preferred pronouns. This document discusses how that information is stored in Moodle, who can see it, and how you can edit it.

How do preferred pronouns get into Moodle?

You can edit pronoun information in your Moodle profile. However, that information may be overwritten by Bionic or Workday, which are the systems of record, used to populate profile information. You may wish to check periodically to make sure your pronouns are correct in the system.

Preferred pronouns in the Participant list

Faculty and others with course builder access can easily see preferred pronouns in the course participant list. This information also appears in the Moodle Roster.

  1. Click the participants link for a list of students enrolled in your course.

View pronouns in Moodle profiles

Students see a simplified version of the course participant list, and can see pronoun information by clicking on the profiles of fellow course participants.
Student view of course participants does not show pronoun information. However, students can still see pronoun information in individual Moodle profiles.
The figure above illustrates the student view of course participant lists. Clicking on a participant's name (illustrated above) shows that participant's profile (illustrated below).
