Air Server
Air Server is available in every classroom on campus. You can use AirServer to wirelessly project your iPhone, iPad, and Mac laptop.
Video transcript:
Air Server is an application that allows you to wirelessly connect your iPad or MacBook to a classroom computer, which in turn is connected to a classroom projection system. Before we get started, here’s a quick note: in the menu bar of the classroom computers you’ll only see an icon for another program called AirPlay, which is this one. You need to make sure that you have the AirServer icon, which looks very similar. It will appear after you start the AirServer application from the dock.
Here’s how to use AirServer:
Launch AirServer from the dock on the classroom computer. The AirServer icon should now appear in the menu bar at the top of your computer screen.
If you’re using an iPad, make sure it’s connected to a wireless network. Bring up the control center by swiping your finger up, from the bottom of the device. Tap on AirPlay and you’ll see a list of connections listed by building and room number. Choose the room you’re currently utilizing.
Toggle the mirroring switch to on, and a popup window with a random 4-digit passcode will appear on the classroom computer.
After you enter the passcode on your iPad, a window displaying the iPad’s image will open on the classroom computer. So you’re now mirroring to the computer’s desktop and projector. Remember to turn the auto-lock setting off on your iPad to prevent it from going to sleep. This is located in the settings app on the iPad.
If you’re using a MacBook, follow the same steps to open the application. Make sure your MacBook is connected to a wireless network. You should see this icon in the upper-right corner of your laptop. If not, go to: System Preferences > Displays and make sure the option Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available is selected, then click the AirPlay icon and choose the room you are currently utilizing to continue with the process.

In this video, we are going to look at how you can connect to our Mersive Pod system to screen share your personal computer or mobile device with the projector in a classroom.
First, you will need to visit Mersive’s website to download the Mersive Solstice application. This will allow you to interact with the system in the classroom.
Once there, you will choose which version of the app to download. Click on the version of the app that corresponds to your personal device that you wish to wirelessly project: OSX and Windows for laptops, iOS and Android for mobile devices. Since I am on an Apple laptop, I am going to choose OSX.
Now, turn on the projector. If you are in a room with multiple inputs for the projector, you will have to select Solstice Pod. Then, select Send to Main Projector. The Mersive environment will now be displayed on the main screen of your classroom, and should look like this.
After you download the application to your personal device or laptop that you want to project, open the application. The application will ask you to enter your name for the session. I’m going to use Test User for this video. Click on Continue.
Now you need to change the wireless settings of the device you want to connect. Navigate to your wireless network toolbar and look for the network with the name of the classroom you are in, with the word Pod next to it. Since I am in the Stokes Auditorium, I will select the Stokes Auditorium Pod for my network. You will be prompted for a password. In Haverford College’s classrooms, we us the password Haverford (with a capital “H”). That’s: capital H-a-v-e-r-f-o-r-d.
Once connected, you should see an IP address auto-populate within the Solstice app on your laptop or mobile device. Click on the IP address. Your device will now be connected to your classroom’s Mersive Pod. You have three options as to what you wish to share with the class.
You can choose to share your entire screen by selecting Desktop.
You can share a specific application window by selecting App Window.
Finally, you can share a specific media file, like a video file, by selecting Media File.
